What Skiers Say About Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel attracts predominantly advanced and expert skiers, with reviewers consistently praising the extensive ski area, modern lift infrastructure with heated seats, and well-groomed pistes. The resort is noted for its charming old town, quality on-mountain restaurants, and vibrant après-ski scene, particularly at venues like The Londoner. However, the low altitude means snow conditions can be unreliable, with many reviewers reporting icy slopes and dependence on artificial snowmaking. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive for accommodation, dining, and drinks, though some find the quality justifies the cost.

Amazing!!! I would love to ski more of the terrain. Just ran out of time. The conditions were great. The town beautiful. Overall all a trip of a lifetime.

Kitzbühel certainly earns its reputation as one of the most posh destinations in the Alps. Walking through the town center, you’re just as likely to see high-end designer fur as you are ski boots! However, what surprised me most was that beneath the surface-level glitz, there is a mountain for everyone.
While the town leans toward the luxury side, the ski area itself is incredibly inclusive. With 233km of slopes, I found plenty of terrain that wasn't intimidating, and the lift system is world-class. It’s definitely a "4 out of 5" experience—the only reason it loses a star is that the prices in the main town can be a bit eye-watering.
That said, if you look past the five-star hotels, there are plenty of authentic mountain huts and local spots that welcome everyone. Whether you’re there to tackle the infamous Streif or just want to enjoy a beer with a view, Kitzbühel manages to balance its high-end prestige with genuine Tyrolean charm. It’s a must-visit, even if you aren't traveling with a billionaire's budget!

Quite expensive and the snow is quite hard, not like other resorts where lots of apri bars but it’s huge and hard & lots of slopes.

Kitzbühel is an absolutely stunning town, and a ski Mecca thanks to the hannenkahm. Runs are phenomenally well maintained - temperatures reached 12 degrees while we were there but the pistes latterly remained perfect, and anything that was chopped up by the end of the day was pristine by the morning. There are plenty of mountain bars and restaurants with stunning views and fantastic food - I highly recommend the Sonnbühel. Apres is mixed - midweek everywhere was dead, with no real apres save the little bar under the hannenkahm lift station (Legends), and Pavillon over the road. That completely changed on the weekend. The town is beautiful and big, and very upmarket - designer shops round every corner.

Great lift system and range of pastes, weather wasn't great for a few days but the variety of runs meant it was possible to ski in poor conditions. The large cable cars linking different parts of the resort were a great addition. Would return.

A great resort for skiing, a wonderful variety of slopes. Theres not much chance to ski down to the town, you gave to get a gonadal up to the resort which is something to bare in mind.

This year was my second year in Kitzbuhel. Now I know the town better and like it even more for it's mix of traditional buildings and modern finishes. The slopes are always well groomed and the snow making facilities ensure this even after two weeks without fresh snow.
You are never far from the Hannenkamm Gondola if your hotel is in the old town, so getting on the slopes is only a gondola ride away.
The mountain restaurants are excellent and there's plenty of them, so you're not going to go hungry.
In the evening, there are plenty of bars in the old town, and plenty of restaurants. I found the variety and quality was excellent.

Extensive ski area with modern lifts. I didn’t have to queue more than a couple of minutes all week. Nice tree runs. Pistes were a bit icy; snow making saved the day.
There are some nice on-mountain dining options and not too pricey.
Fantastic views from many areas, especially from the Kitzbuehler Horn… not linked to the main ski area but well worth the effort. The Red 4 run there is fantastic.
Close to Ski Welt… the trip over to Westendorf is easy if you fancy trying another set of slopes - get the KitzSkiWelt or SuperSkiCard if you want to do this.
I wasn’t that impressed with Kitzbuehel as a town; pricey shops and it seemed a bit fake. Kirchberg is more authentic.
Great ski area, beautiful scenery, manageable prices. I would go back.

The best resort I have ever been to. Pricey but worth it! The runs are incredible, very well groomed, and huge number of black and advanced runs. Well worth a visit! Lifts fairly quiet too.

Great resort overall. Lots of mountain top restaurants and patios, lots of great spots for a beer or an espresso. Really good groomed runs, lots of different areas to explore. I never explored much beyond the groomers. Most lifts are high speed 8 packs with heated seats. Village is really cool with lots of character. Big dance bar/club at the base. Definitely a bougie town but the mountain wasnt crazy expensive, just nice.
